Introduction:
The 1969 May 13 incident was an episode of ethnic conflict that left a profound impact on the nation’s history and remains difficult to erase from the collective memory of Malaysian society to this day.
In conjunction with the 56th anniversary of the May 13 incident, we are organizing a book launch and forum to create space for discussion and to revisit the event from a more constructive perspective, towards reconciliation and national unity.
The book Kehidupan Seterusnya: Sejarah Lisan 13 Mei, which will be launched, is an important work of oral history, featuring a collection of interviews with survivors of the May 13 incident. The book is also published in two versions, Chinese and English, by the May 13 Oral History initiative group. The Malay version has been translated by Zikri Rahman and edited by Lee Hao Jie.
The public is warmly invited to attend the book launch free of charge, which will be followed by a forum session with invited panelists.
